The Remote and Isolated Pharmacist Association Australia (RIPAA) successfully held its Annual General Meeting, marking a pivotal period of growth and strategic consolidation as the organisation champions the sustainability of comprehensive pharmacy care in Australia’s most remote regions.

Delivering comprehensive pharmacy care across Modified Monash (MM) 4–7 zones involves unique structural, operational, and financial hurdles that are frequently misunderstood. Over the past year, RIPAA has actively worked to bridge this gap through high-level stakeholder engagement. Key milestones include contributing directly to the 8CPA Interim Review and Department of Health consultations regarding quality support programs, advancing practical and sustainable funding frameworks, and securing full membership in the National Rural Health Alliance (NRHA).

To further strengthen its national voice, RIPAA is scaling up its advocacy through Bente Hart representing the association at the NRHA, alongside expanding its capacity through strategic academic partnerships and research initiatives designed to build a robust evidence base for thin-market pharmacy practice.

Following the AGM, RIPAA confirmed its leadership for the upcoming term, with Fredrik Hellqvist continuing as President and Joanne Loftus as Vice President, supported by a dedicated executive committee driving national reforms.

RIPAA invites industry stakeholders, policymakers, and health sector allies to connect and collaborate as the association continues its mission to secure equitable, long-term healthcare access for remote and isolated Australian communities.
